Warrior Landlord

A field guide for those entering the real estate rental profession

Lies

Lies. First, there are GREAT tenants out there, but they are scarce. Most tenants you will deal with lie on a scale of 1-10… from white lies to grand lies. They lie about their name, birth date, work, pay, automobile, smoking, drugs, children, marriage, credit, parents, age, previous landlord, amount of cash they have, pets, service animals, ownership of car, etc. – there is not one thing I can think of that has not been lied about. Your job is to elicit the truth from these people BEFORE you rent to them, not after. Liars don’t always make bad renters… you just need to know who you are dealing with from the start. Getting information is easy, getting truthful accurate information not so easy.

APPLICATION

I address this more on the application page. You will use a thorough application. After they fill in the application thoroughly, you will interview them face to face.
